I clicked the \u201cX\u201d dismiss button. But Apple somehow assumed that that meant \u201cyes, install it immediately\u201d because 20 minutes later I got a \u201cyou must restart\u201d notification and when I restarted, the system was running macOS 14.2.1. Shame shame shame on you, Apple. And, as per my standard procedures, I disabled all automatic updates and upgrades. The machine shouldn\u2019t install _anything_ unless I intentionally download and\/or trigger the installation. Yet, a few minutes ago, the machine decided it was time to move to macOS Sonoma and triggered the upgrade\/installation on its own \u2026 I didn\u2019t even get the option to cancel the upgrade. Not cool. It seems to have started on my Monterey boot drive today: I am currently booted from another drive and am afraid to go back to using my main system drive (Monterey). I ALWAYS have Auto updates turned off, with only \u201cCheck for updates\u201d and \u201cInstall security responses and system files\u201d enabled. Is there a fix for this?
