It extends battery life by managing power usage efficiently. It limits background activity and reduces screen brightness, ensuring that devices consume less power while maintaining optimal performance. By automatically managing system processes and power usage, the energy saver group policy helps reduce overall energy consumption. This not only saves costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>IT administrators can activate the policy by using either method below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Local Group Policy Editor\u00a0in Windows 11<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Intune Admin Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/softantenna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/energy-saver-policy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"717\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-129307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The path for the new policy configuration can be found at in Local Group Policy Editor by navigating to\u00a0<strong>Computer Configuration &gt; Administrative Templates &gt; System &gt; Power Management &gt; Energy Saver Settings<\/strong>\u00a0and \u201cEnable Energy Saver to Always Be On\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changes and Improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>[Phone Link]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Phone companion for the Start menu is rolling out (again) for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel along with the following improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instantly see notifications from your mobile device apps \u2014 grouped by app for easy catch-up, right from your Start menu.<\/li>\n<li>Mirror your Android device\u2019s screen with a single click from your Start menu. See\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/setting-up-and-using-phone-screen-in-the-phone-link-ea853ebc-0856-2f6e-af34-703fe449416b\">Setting up and using phone screen in the Phone Link \u2013 Microsoft Support<\/a>\u00a0for more details on device support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[Taskbar &amp; System Tray]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We have adjusted the needy state pill under apps on the taskbar that need attention to be wider and more visible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/softantenna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/taskbar-wider-needy-state-pill.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"101\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-128820\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fixes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>[General]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We have mitigated the issue where if Virtualization Based Security is enabled, applications dependent on virtualization, such as VMware Workstation, would lose the ability to run unless the \u201cWindows Hypervisor Platform\u201d Windows optional component is installed on the system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[File Explorer]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue where if you had disconnected network drives when doing a search from Home it might prevent searches from executing and you\u2019d remain on Home.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue where tapping the View button in File Explorer with touch would crash File Explorer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Taskbar]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue where WIN + CTRL + Number wasn\u2019t working anymore for switching windows in the taskbar.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an underlying issue which was causing keyboard focus to get set to widgets in the taskbar on login, which could make widgets unexpectedly invoke.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue when using Tab and Shift + Tab to move keyboard focus around the taskbar, where if keyboard focus went backwards at least once you could get keyboard focus stuck on the taskbar frame, causing some screen readers to just say \u201cpane\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Settings]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue where hovering over the cards at the top of Settings &gt; System &gt; About wasn\u2019t showing the correct corner radius.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue where the storage card in Settings &gt; System &gt; About showed a garbage character instead of the proper disk size.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Administrator Protection]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue where when using Administrator Protection, some apps might not follow your preference if it was set to dark mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Task Manager]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed the issue causing search and other options such as filtering in Task Manager to not work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Audio]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue in the last few Canary flights where audio devices with high sampling (like 192Hz) and multiple channels weren\u2019t producing sound.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue which could cause the startup sound not to play, though it was enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Input]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue where voice typing wouldn\u2019t start from the touch keyboard when using the Chinese (Simplified) narrow layout.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue where when using the Symbols section of the touch keyboard, pressing the key to change pages might unexpectedly insert a character into password fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Graphics]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue which could cause unexpected scaling and window position changes after sleep\/resume for some devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Voice access]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue which could voice access to freeze with error \u201cworking on it\u201d when dictating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>[Other]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed an issue causing an Administrative Templates error message when opening Group Policy Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue where some of the commands when using<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/windows-hardware\/manufacture\/desktop\/automate-windows-setup?view=windows-11\">xml<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>to setup were unexpectedly not being run.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue when installing Windows from installation media, where if you changed your keyboard layout from the default, it may still use the default when entering the product key.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue when installing Windows from installation media, where certain partitions may show an extremely large erroneous size.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Known issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>[General]<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>[IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs]<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>If you are joining the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel or retail, you will lose Windows Hello pin and biometrics to sign into your PC with error 0xd0000225 and error message \u201cSomething went wrong, and your PIN isn\u2019t available\u201d. You should be able to re-create your PIN by clicking \u201cSet up my PIN\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019re working on the fix for an underlying issue where the taskbar is unexpectedly not showing acrylic material after upgrading to the latest Canary builds.
