Bug Fixes

• Added comprehensive guard to prevent the use of the iina:// URL scheme to modify local files. This blocks the remaining discovered paths that allow command injection in certain situations. A safety advisory covering IINA 1.4.3 and 1.4.4 will be published soon.

Please note that the in-app auto-update will be available in 24 hours after each GitHub release.

IINA 1.5.0 is on the way with a complete UI redesign. Please stay tuned.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a security issue allowing command injection when opening a iina:// URL, #6083.
• Fixed system media play/pause keys toggling pause instead of strictly playing or pausing, by adopting mpv's PLAYONLY and PAUSEONLY keys, #6025.
• Fixed wrong fallback strings in localization in the inspector window.

The previous build didn't include updated dav1d libraries, leading to crashes when playing AV1 videos, particularly on YouTube.

This build resolved the issue. The 1.4.2 auto-update and website download will directly link to build 164.

The Plugin System is Now Available

IINA 1.4.0 introduces a plugin system that lets users extend IINA's functionality with JavaScript plugins.

• Online Media (iina/plugin-online-media): Enhances the experience of playing online media.
  • One-click yt-dlp update
  • On-the-fly video/audio quality selection

• OpenSubtitles (iina/plugin-opensub): Lets users search and download subtitles from OpenSubtitles with a user-friendly sidebar interface.
• User Scripts (iina/plugin-userscript): Allows users to add code snippets to customize IINA's beh

The Plugin System

The plugin system is now enabled by default.

• The new Online Media plugin allows you to download online videos while playing them and switch between different video qualities on the fly.
• The new OpenSubtitles plugin provides a better experience for searching and downloading subtitles.
• The new User Scripts plugin allows you to tweak IINA's functionality with only a few lines of code.
