Braveブラウザの最新版v1.64.109が公開され、ブラウザのインストール時にVPNサービスが自動的にインストールされる問題が修正されたことがわかりました(Neowin)。
昨年9月、BraveのWindows版をインストールすると、VPNの2つのサービス「Brave VPN Service」と「Brave VPN Wireguard Service」が自動的にインストールされていることが発覚し、ユーザーからの反発を招いていました。
Braveはこの問題を修正し、VPNサブスクリプションを登録した場合にのみVPNサービスをインストールすると約束していましたが、今回のアップデートではこの修正が行われています。
変更履歴によると「VPNを購入または有効にするまでVPNサービスをインストールしないようにBrave VPNを修正」したことが確認できます。また管理者ポリシーによってBraveのAIアシスタントであるLeoを無効化することもできるようになっています。
