Linux開発者のLinus Torvalds氏は1月7日(現地時間)、Linux mainline Kernelの最新版「Linux 6.7」をリリースしました(Phoronix)。
2024年最初のLinux mainline Kernelのリリースで、Linus氏は次のように6.7リリースについてコメントしています。
6.7 is (in number of commits: over 17k non-merge commits with 1k+ merges) one of the largest kernel releases we've ever had, but the extra rc8 week was purely due to timing with the holidays, not about any difficulties with the larger release.
6.7は（コミット数で言うと1万7000以上の非マージ・コミットと1千以上のマージがある）これまでで最大のカーネル・リリースのひとつですが、rc8が1週間延長されたのは純粋にホリデーのタイミングによるもので、大きなリリースが難しいということではありません。
The main changes this last week were a few DRM updates (mainly fixes for new hw enablement in this version - both amd and nouveau), some more bcachefs fixes (and bcachefs is obviously new to 6.7 and one of the reasons for the large number of commits), and then a few random driver updates. And a smattering of minor noise elsewhere.
先週の主な変更点は、いくつかのDRMアップデート（主にこのバージョンでの新しいhw有効化の修正-amdとnouveauの両方）、いくつかのbcachefsの修正（bcachefsは明らかに6.7の新機能で、コミット数が多い理由のひとつ）、そしていくつかのランダムなドライバのアップデートだった。その他にもマイナーなノイズがいくつかある。
Linux 6.7では、Bcachefsファイルシステムの初期サポートが追加されたほか、Intel Meteor Lakeグラフィックスの安定化、NouveauドライバによるNVIDIA GSPファームウェアの初期サポート、Intel Itaniumサポートの終了等、多数の新機能が含まれています。
