イーロン・マスク氏がTwitterのCEOに就任し、Twitterの運営方針が急激に変更されています。
大規模リストラの後、はやくも月額8ドルの新しいサブスクリプションサービス「Twitter Blue」が開始され、Twitterの全ユーザーを対象とした有料プランの計画も進められているとの噂も流れています。
このような動きを嫌い、Twitterからの脱出を準備しているユーザーも多いとみられているなか、シングルボードコンピューターRaspberry Pi公式のMastodonインスタンス(サーバー)が立ち上がったことがわかりました。
Raspberry Piのドキュメント責任者であるAlasdair Allan氏は、次のような声明を発表しています。
Last week, Elon Musk walked into Twitter HQ carrying a kitchen sink, and within hours he had laid off half of Twitter’s staff. The lawsuits, then rehiring, started almost immediately afterwards. With the content moderation team cut to the bone, anecdotally at least, folks also started to see an uptick in abuse, spam, and other things. The changes in the way verification is going to work are worrying, and confusing. There are even discussions ongoing about putting the entire site behind a paywall.
先週、イーロン・マスクがキッチンシンクを持ってTwitter本社にやってきて、数時間のうちにTwitterのスタッフの半分を解雇してしまった。その後、ほとんどすぐに訴訟と再雇用が始まりました。コンテンツモデレーションチームが骨抜きにされたことで、少なくとも逸話的には、人々は悪用やスパムなどの増加も目にするようになりました。検証方法の変更は心配ですし、混乱も招きます。サイト全体を有料にするという議論も進行中です。

今回立ち上がったMastodonインスタンスはRaspberry Pi 4で動いており、Mythic Beastsがホストしている「Pi in the sky」と呼ばれるクラウドサービスを利用しているそうです。
なお、「Pi in the sky」の利用料金は月額7.65ポンドで、Twitter Blueの新しい価格に非常に近く、20GBのディスクスペースが付属しているそうです。
