Microsoftは本日、Windows Insider Program向けの最新ビルド「Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26052」を公開し、リリースノートの情報から、Windows 11の年次アップデートが「Windows 11, version 24H2」と呼ばれることが確認されました。
Microsoftは次のように説明しています。
Starting with Build 26-xx today, Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels will see the versioning updated under Settings > System > About (and winver) to version 24H2. This denotes that Windows 11, version 24H2 will be this year’s annual feature update. As mentioned here, Windows 11 will have an annual feature update cadence that releases in the second half of the calendar year.
本日のBuild 26-xxから、CanaryチャンネルとDevチャンネルのWindows Insidersは、「設定 > システム > バージョン情報（およびwinver）」のバージョン表記がバージョン24H2に更新される。これは、Windows 11, version 24H2が今年の年次機能アップデートであることを示す。ここで述べたように、Windows 11は、暦年の下半期にリリースされる年次機能更新のペースを持つ。
「Windows 11, version 24H2が今年の年次機能アップデート」で「下半期にリリースされれる年次機能更新のベース」となることが確認できます。
Microsoftが「Windows 12」を明確に否定したわけではありませんが、Windows Centralは、この情報から、Windowsの次のメジャーリリースがWindows 12ではなく、Windows 11 24H2である確認がとれたと主張しています。
ただし、次期アップデートが「Windows 12」という名前ではなかったとしても、AI関連の大量の新機能が追加されると予想されています。
