Appleは先日、macOSのメジャーバージョンアップ版「macOS Sequoia」をリリースしました。
macOS SequoiaはAppleシリコンMacだけでなく一部のIntel Macもサポートしていますが、すべての機能が利用できるわけではありありません。

Apple Intelligence
AppleのAI機能、「Apple Intelligence」はすべて、Appleシリコン搭載Macでしか利用できません。Apple IntelligenceにはM1チップ以降が必要で、Intel MacではAppleのAI機能を利用することはできません。
ライブ音声トランスクリプション
macOS Sequoiaのメモアプリででライブ音声書き起こしをサポートするのは、Appleシリコン搭載Macに限定されています(英語限定なので日本ユーザーには影響軽微か)。
- Live audio transcription: Record audio sessions within your note and generate live audio transcriptions you can search through or combine with other comments, checklists, or documents.
- Available on Mac computers with Apple silicon in English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Ireland), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (UK), and English (U.S.).
まだまだいけるIntel Mac
目玉機能として紹介された、iPhoneミラーリング機能は、Intel Macでも利用することができます。
なおAppleは、macOS Sequoiaと互換性のあるMacを次のように説明しています。
Available on Mac computers with Apple silicon and Intel-based Mac computers with a T2 Security Chip. Requires that your iPhone and Mac are signed in with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication, your iPhone and Mac are near each other and have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on, and your Mac is not using AirPlay or Sidecar.
いよいよサポートされる機種が少なくなってきたIntel Macですが、少なくともあと1年は最新OSを使用することができます。
