Appleが本日、音楽プレイヤー「iPod nano」と「iPod shuffle」の販売を終了したことがわかりました(MacRumors、ITmedia)。すでに両製品の公式Webページは削除され、購入することもできなくなっています。
iPodブランドとして唯一残った「iPod touch」のラインナップも整理され32GBと128GBモデルのみに。価格は21,800円/32,800円に値下げされています。
Business Insiderによると、Appleの広報担当のコメントは以下の通り。
Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch, now with double the capacity starting at just $199, and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano
本日iPod touchのモデルを2モデルにして簡素化し、容量倍増で価格は199ドルからとした。iPod shuffleとiPod nanoは生産中止となる。
iPod shuffleは2005年1月から、iPod nanoは2005年9月から販売されてきた歴史あるモデルですが、ついにこの日がやってきてしまいました。
