macOS Catalina v10.15.7のリリース後に、「accountsd」というシステムプロセスのCPU使用率が非常に高くなり、Macの動作が遅くなると言う問題が報告されていることが分かりました(MacRumors)。
Appleサポートコミュニティのあるユーザーは、CPU使用率が400%を超えていて、MacBook Pro 2018が使い物にならない状態になったとスクリーンショットを公開しています。この問題は何年にもわたって報告されていたものの、v10.15.7リリース以降に増加しており、Appleサポートコミュニティや、MacRumorsのフォーラム、Twitter、Reddit、Stack Exchangeなどに具体的な情報が投稿されています。
なお、accountsdはAccounts frameworkの一部で、ユーザーがログイン認証情報を入力しなくても、アプリ内から外部アカウントにアクセスして管理できるようにするためのものです。
The Accounts framework provides access to user accounts stored in the Accounts database, which is managed by the system. An account stores the login credentials of a particular service, such as Twitter, and you use those credentials to authenticate with the service. When you integrate the Accounts framework into your app, you don't need to store account logins yourself. Instead, the user grants your app access to use their account login credentials, bypassing the need to type their username and password. If no account for a particular service exists in the user's Accounts database, you can let them create and save an account from within your app.
accountsdの高いCPU使用率を改善
現在Apple公式の解決策は提供されていませんが、いくつかの回避方法が提案されています。
Apple IDをサインアウト: 「システム環境設定 > Apple ID > 概要 > サインアウト」を実行してMacを再起動。再起動後にApple IDにサインインする。
MacのSMC/NVRAMをリセット: SMCやNVRAMをリセットする。
Spotlightの修正: 「システム環境設定 > Spotlight > プライバシー」で、「Spotlightの検索から除外する場所」に「Macintosh HD」を「＋」で追加、次に 「ー」で削除してインデックスを再作成する。
データベースの名前変更: ~/Library/Accountsに移動し、Accounts4.sqliteをAccounts4.sqlite.testbackupに変更する。
その他に、より複雑なターミナルコマンドを使用する方法もあるようですが、iCloudアカウントや同期に影響を与える可能性もあり、注意が必要とされています。
早急な解決が求められる問題ですが、現時点ではAppleはこの問題を認めていないようです。
